I think it's the opposite of global warming. Look up some of the stuff about Antarctica. A little as 500 years ago, there are maps that were drawn by seefaring people that show Antarctica with a coastline. Today's technology can 'see through' the ice and the actual coastline looks exactly like 500 year old maps. What does this mean? It means that most of the ice on the souther pole is relatively new and implies an impending ice age.
