Hi. I also live in Georgia and WOW...I thought our phone connection was bad...on a good day, we can get a screaming 24000...
We can't get cable nor do we have DSL here. T1's are very expensive, so that's out.
We've had the one way satellite, but it still means dialing into Bell South for our connection.
In all truth, as much as I hate Bell South...as long as I can do away with dial up...I'll take any speed satellite offers me.
Our computers are all networked and we use NT...so, we bought an ME machine and installed WinGate Proxy. We also got DirecPc's family plan, not the business plan, because it gives us unlimited access, whereas the business plan does not. Right now, we have three computers hooked up to satellite. We've just ordered the two way dish, which, for us, is an upgrade....and, I'll let you know how it works...after we get it installed.
I figure..as limited as our choices were...this was the only viable choice we had....and..from what I understand...satellite works fine as long as it doesn't rain too hard or get too foggy.
Hell, I need a few hours off here and there, so I suppose that will be okay.
