I read a story about sat connections about 6 months ago.
It was about the european sat connections so not sure if there's a big difference in price and speed and such with the usa.
They said the dish you need is quite expensive and so is the connection.
And true with rain and fog there's a big chance you don't have a connection.
T1 gives you a usualy a good and stable connection but will cost you more.
Maybe the sat connections got better by now but I would have wait for cable.
