Yes, Most SE, as Fart points out - do not really "spider" websites anymore. They are too lazy. Google and alltheweb/lycos are the only ones that do so on a regular and thorough basis. Northern light does a little - after they eventually find your site.
If you want to concentrate on a search engine for free - pick google. It is the winner hands down.
