Hey Whoreans, you're right most java uploaders do suck. But have you tried Lightning free's? He has a multi file upload, and I swear it will upload entire directories faster than ftp.
If you're only doing a small image or quick html file, then yeah ftp can be a bit faster. But when it comes to full galleries, that multi-file upload thing can be pretty damn quick.
