Babagirls, I can really identify with your friend, having been in a similar situation.
I didn't go to college until I was 26 years old. At that time I was recovering from a long period as a social hermit. I was making inroads with my undiagnosed Social phobia and learning to "be normal" when I discovered all the people my own age were carrying far more baggage than I could handle.
I talked to counselors that told me to just do what I love and be sociable with the people I meet doing those things. So I did. I met a lot of interesting people and dated some of them.
The young women I dated were college age, 17-23 years old.
Whatever our personal philosophies may be, we must always keep in mind the law of the land.
I cared about the young woman I was seeing so I waited. It was the smart thing to do.
You know, we can't control who we fall in love with but we can control how we act on our feelings. That's an important point to remember.
