Um no I don't want to argue with anyone..especially people I like.
However, If you don't think that thousands of people haven't been killed by the IRA then you don't know your history. Hell since I have been here a few hundred have died. Are those deaths worth less than American lives. Also we have been told over here to prepare for hundreds of British people dead in the US attacks. After all that was the WORLD trade center. Also, it wasn't just an attack on Americans it was an attack on the western way of life.
And also..it isn't that simple. There are a heck of a lot of people that want the british there...they are the loyalists and quite often they are just as bad as the IRA. I really don't have time or the energy ( I didn't sleep last night) to go into the history of that conflict and also in the long run it doesn't matter today. However, just remember it the next time we have something like Omar over here (the car bombing that blew up in a street and killed babies).
See, I am an immagrant. I am an American living abroad. I am lucky that I am white because I would hate to think what it would be like to be an imigrant and not be white. I ocassionaly get discriminated against because I am forgien. I have been refused medical treatment based on my accent (until I made enough fuss and had the receptionist fired..I pay taxes here so I am entitled to health care)...I once had someone spit at me when they heard my accent. That was shortly after the US had bombed the Chinese Embassy.
So I *do* know what it is like to be part of an enthic and nationalistic generalisation in a forgien land. So, when I know full well that there are good people that just so happen be from Pakistan or any slightly arab country (keep in mind that until last year Jordan's queen was American and they are still our friend...other Middle eastern countries have helped us in military missons) being threatened I get a bit upset.
My neighbors are from India and they have had hate mail today in the UK. They are wonderful people. The cutest little girls I have ever met and just because they have tint to their skin they are groupped with evil terrorists.
Kill those that did that but just because you are of a particular nationality doesn't mean you are guilty by association. Remember one of the people arrested for the embassy bombings in Africa 3 years ago was an American.
