Thanks for sharing that redshoe I have been a big fan of Michael Moore's for many years now and will definitely go and sign up for his newsletter.

Drumsicle I appreciate the comments and don't really want to debate morals of presidents at this point but I did want to point out that military personnel getting welfare checks didn't begin with Clinton and won't end there either.

My first eye opener was after the gulf war during that recession I became a "dislocated worker" according to the U.S. government. I earned a little extra cash when I moved to Colorado Springs donating plasma. I never saw more broke military families in my life than when I was sitting there in the waiting room for my turn.

I truly found it sad that men and women who were putting their lives in danger for our freedom were sitting their with their families waiting their turn so they could supplement their food stamps and whatever else government aid they were receiving.

Papa Bush was still president.

Edited to add that with the selection of Dick Cheney as vide president one of the biggest proponents of base closures in the 90's did not help the moral of the military. And guess what ol' Dickie boy was discussing with Congress just this last week. How wee need to close more bases. I wonder if he still feels that way now.

I guess the point of my post was more or less that I wish for once a leader would just get up and without cue cards speak his mind...not just Bush...any leader.
