It blinks, because it's the MOST IMPORTANT link on the page. If your a surfer, like in your example, and 2nd page you hit is from a link that says "JOIN NOW" and you close it cause it wants you to join, you're probley to stupid to use a CC as well...
Plus, I think the market is changing, ALOT of surfers joining a site have a pretty good idea of what's in a paysite(or at least what should be), and if you send them thru to many preview pages, they are going to leave
