When Bush 41 sent troops to arrest General Noriega on a drug charge Noam Chomsky was on a college tour telling anybody who would listen that Bush would NEVER allow Noriega to be taken alive, for fear Noriega would spill all the secrets of the evil things the CIA had done.
When Noriega got his ass locked up, Noam Chomsky went on to the next lie without every explaining how he got it so wrong. The only public debate tactic recognized by the "blame America" left is move to the next lie and keep 'em coming so fast nobody can dispute them quickly enough. Kill the truth with a thousand cuts.
That's one of the reasons Chomsky draws an audience about the size of my mother's bridge club.
