Spontaneous holidays
What the fuck!
It is bad enough that there is endless television coverage of Reagans death/funeral/second funeral/observance before funeral. Yet come on, the guy has barely even been covered in dirt and we take a federal holiday. This is complete and total bullshit.
My Government/Civics lessons may be way out of date so I could be thinking out of my ass. Does it not normally require some sort of vote or something through the various houses to get a federal holiday? Even if it is a temporary one (doubt it will be). Shit our money is being spent right now so Government employee's can sit on their asses.
Did I just miss this completely, was there a bill or something that was fast tracked? Or can the president just declare a holiday whenver he gets the whim?
