Sorry I titled it wrong, BLIND surfers not DEAF...
As many of you know I run a phone sex company... and I get calls on my business line all the time from customers that link over to my B2B site from surfer sites, etc. So, yes I get wackos calling my office all the time by mistake instead of other regular phone sex numbers.
Well, when there's not heavy breathing I always try to point them in the right direction.
Today I got a phone call from a BLIND gentleman, probably the 4th or 5th to somehow call this year. It was actually pretty cool, we talked for about 10 minutes.
He was telling me how he uses a 'reader' to surf the internet and how difficult it is to maneuver around. He was looking for audio content, explaining all the way how the pictures and video content are useless to him.
I gladly pointed him in the direction of my friend's site which is
http://www.audiosex.com which has tons of audio stories, including a plug-in that I lease from my SinContent site. Also, I emailed him instructions on a discount flat-rate phone sex line and how to get the most value out of it.
I have questions... Has anyone here ever considered adding design features for the BLIND? If so, where might we go to learn more about how to tag the HTML properly? I wonder if there are any portals for BLIND people that link to surfing-friendly sites. If there were, I have to imagine that this audience MUCH DESIRES surfer friendly pornsites with audio content.
I'd like to get any information available about blind portals, SE's, or other's experiences in designing for the BLIND. I have to imagine in the US alone there must be a captive audience of 10's of thousands surfing the net using a 'reader' device. If so, doesn't that seem like a market that someone should cater to?
