Allowing peer to peer updates would also open a door for various exploits to the poker software, so I sincerely doubt it works that way. I'm just speaking from experience supporting online gambling software in Costa Rica. (both major vendors, Inet and IQL).

Since you seem to think YOU know what you're talking about, I assume you have those netstat logs handy to show me the port and IP connection of the person who hacked your machine. Anyone that knew the first thing about networking would know / have that.

Please show them now, stop being a tease.
