Need a little networking help please...

I've got my PC and my laptop on a Wireless-B network (11 Mbps).

I have about 20 GB of files I wanna transfer from my laptop to my PC. At 11 Mbps, it's too slow for me.

I have a crossover cable and I'd much rather take advantage of the 100 Mbps rate I can get through the cable.

Can I just plug my crossover cable into my PC and laptop and start transferring? Do I need to reset them first? How do I get it to ignore the wireless network and use the cable connection instead?

If anyone can help me solve the problem, I can send 1 or 2 gmail invites to you or whoever you want.

Thanks!
