Its actually easier to try and work things out with people, and often times cheaper, than to fire them in most cases because changing locks, biometrics, scanners, contact info with vendors, HR, social engineering (ie the guy calls in and acts like he still works in IT and asks for a current employee's password)... but im talking about corporate IT stuff (alot of this can be applied to most situations).
Social engineering is a bitch.
