I agree with ya. Although there were a few groups from the 80's that were decent, such as The Police, Genesis, Van Halen, none of them had the same depth as the supergroups from the 70's. Even the groups that continued on for decades for the most part put their best stuff out in that time. The only exception I can think of is Floyd with Animals and The Wall, both masterpieces. Even then Animals was put out in I think 1977 or 78.
I've always felt it was the record companies that fucked up music, pushing the airwaves with this Madonna and Wham crap in the eighties and it just went on from there.

Naw the music industry isn't to blame. The well dried up. Like you said, all the groups that continued on didn't put out anything decent any longer. Groups like Guns N Roses and Nirvana that came along later had just as much depth as those 70's supergroups and are actually better than most of them.
