I have to agree with others here that the Beatles are more pop than rock and roll. Rock and Roll means drum solos, guitar solos, drummers who die from alcohol overdoses, thundering music etc.
At least with Mettalica, Rush, Skynard, Black Sabbath, AC/DC, the the Who , Hendrix, etc you can understand where people are coming from. But Marilyn Manson or GWAR? give me a break...people don't even really listen to them right now---they have a minority audience that immediately disqualifies them from any greatest ever rock and roll classification.
