i agree with you except the bookmarkers-thing... bookmarkers really _are_ very good for your site. i agree that they eat a lot of bandwidth and aren't very likely to join programs but they're very important to the stability of your site. imagine your host fucks up and you're down a for a few days... if you don't have bookmarkers you're in deep shit, if you have 'em you'll be kickin' ass within days again.
furthermore they can also be very usefull when trading hits. if you can design your site in such a way that the tradelinks remain keeping the attention of the bookmarkers your site will be booming :D
