Why stress over merchant accounts and credit cards?

Thought I would make a quick apearance on the board since I have been entertaining myself with all the iBill speculation going on today. While no one knows the exact future I have to agree with one post that I read that stated iBill ( as with plenty of other companies out there ) has weathered many storms in the past and will do the same now.

The real point of this post is to ask, "Why has the adult industry allowed themselves to be backed into a corner by a payment method that does not want anything to do with them in the first place?". When I say payment method I am referring to credit cards in general. Everyone knows that 3rd party processing may have a short shelf life and getting merchant accounts in the States is getting harder as more and more banks back out of processing high risk transactions like adult. This may be a shameless plug for the company I work for but why doesn't the industry give stronger backing to alternative payment methods like DuoCash that operate totally independent of the VISA/Mastercard/Banking dictatorship? Well you may say that everyone has a credit card and not a DuoCash card. I would agree but that does not mean that everyone can't get a one. Why would consumers go get one? Well, because the industry is marketing and pushing it to consumers and touting all of the benefits.

Merchant accounts can get shut down, 3rd party processors can go out of business but as long as you can walk into a store and buy a phone card DuoCash will be around and will be happy to do business with you.
