I have never heard of any federal laws against it. It isn't really my area of interest when I go to the law library, but I don't recall ever running across anything like that.

Just don't impersonate woodsey the owl - that is a federal offense.

In general, the feds are only interested (and allowed) to ban things that involve more than one state. When one of my attorneys (in maryland) challenged the feds on a gun conviction on this ground (as the handgun was actually MANUFACTURED and purchased in maryland), the feds produced a witness to testify that the sping on the clip was purchased from another state - hence the interstate commerce connection.

Sorry, got off track there - I doubt it is illegal. If you want to check it out - I would call the FEDERAL (most lawyers have little or no FEDERAL experience) Public Defenders Office, tell them you are working on a school project, ask to talk to an Assistant Public Defender. I bet you they will tell ya. The Federal Public Defenders are VERY GOOD - not like the state.
