You have the Prime Minister of Iraq saying things are going well, and you have John Kerry saying that he is full of shit, basically. What good can come from this except for pushing his own presidential agenda? Does he even want America to look good in the world, or does he just want to win the election?

is it vitally important that things "look" like they are going well or that they are actually going well? methinks it is the latter. which would make us in deep shit no matter what kerry is saying.
bush and his cronies continue to lie to the american people and the world. getting up and saying that things are going well in iraq, with the economy, with heathcare, with schools, etc. does NOT make it so. i prefer someone who will tell me the truth, no matter how unpleasant that truth is.
bush is a lying sack of shit. compassionate conservative my ass. he is a right wing, elitist, pompous asshole for whom i can't understand why ANYONE in their right mind would vote. if you had an employee who you knew was a fuckup and you had the opportunity to bring someone else in what would you do:
a) rehire that person whom you know to be incompetent
b) hire someone new
i'll take b. even if the new guy turns out to be just as big of a fuckup... at least i didn't rehire someone i KNOW to be so.
