If you were accepted as a refugee and allowed to stay in Australia you would HAVE to be accepted and receive SOME FORM of financial payment until you were able to get work, else you would be just accepting refugees to then add to your homeless population.
I know all governments are pretty thick, but I don't think any are QUITE that stupid,..(just yet anyhow... lol).
Thus there needs to be some form of interum payment and shelter refugees can get until they can find work,(family payments, dole, whatever) .. and for unskilled refugees this would mean the payments would run longer as it would take them longer to find work... The government isn't gonna just say "yupp, well you managed to prove yourself a refugee.. or just sneak by our laws... so you and your family can stay... HERE'S A CARDBOARD BOX, for you're not gonna get any help... now you're a refugee here... btw we call them homeless people.. try the cross, you may meet a few friends down there to huddle with on cold nights... well Welcome to Australia... Now piss off... you've got 2 years to wait before you get any form of financial help... go on...fuck off"
