What is the value of one word domains that cater to a specific field?

For example, the word 'phoneme', which is a common term in linguistics (phoneme.com is already taken, BTW), but has no real value outside linguistics.

Obviously they woule be less valuable than common one word domains, but they are still single words. Moreover, they have potential value to persons associated with the relevant fields.
