mmm, I had a similar issued when I upgraded to WM9, that's why I keep it on my server and try not to mess with it. Microsoft has a tendency to eliminate support for the previous versions whenever they release something new.
Like how when you upgrade to a new windows media player there's no (easy) way to go back to the previous one. I suggest you a post a Q to the discreet people, they've been helpful with me in the past.
I really suggest if you depend on cleaner to set it up on a separate machine and try not to mess with it. I've been using it for a long time and it gets easily broken whenever you update anything related to windows media.
