I was reading letters sent home from a serbian UN worker in Afganistan, dating March - June 2003. Lawless state, where everyone is at war with everyone (they kill themselves, they kill neighbouring fractions, they kill UN workers etc)

Each house has an average of 10 kids, they're piss poor, but each house has a nice arsenal of few missile launchers, few AK-47's, bombs etc.

The house specialty is Hash mixed with dry scorpions (highly poisenous). They're fucking insane.

Hash is like $0.20 for a joint I guess. And a kilo of opium sells for $400.

The guy was working there for 3 months, having dierrhea every week or so (albeit drinking bottled water). His impressions were that the country is hopeless.

Children playing in the mud on the streets, the mud mixed with floating shit that comes out the uncovered flooded sewers.

He didn't mention in his letters why he went there, I wouldn't go, I don't care how much the pay is.
