Hey Nuclei22...
I'll tell You what's wrong with spyware floating around freely:
"it's not like he's stealing or actually harming anyone"...
EEH!! Hold it!
12Clicks/Standard Internet might not do that, I haven't got a scope on those.
BUT! Malwares HAVE surfaced that interferes with the normal promotion-chain
between affiliates & sponsors, some tries to outright steal affiliates' traffic
and even signups(!), by altering cookies and referal-codes "on-the-fly", when
surfers are out looking for their treats...
Now how's that for "not actually harming anyone"?
Some affiliates work HARD for their income, some not so hard.
This shit harms not only affiliates, but the industry as well, in several ways
and especially in the long run.
I'm a firm believer in that the industry needs a lot of affiliates that push
about say.. 100 sales/month, and that it will collapse if it's dependent on
"whales" solely.
What do You think happens in a while if all these smaller affiliates leaves when
their work produces no more than 10 sales?
It's not going to be worth it for them and that'll mean the assholes behind
affiliate-malicious malware/spyware have less traffic/signups to steal as well.
In this scenario, sponsors' sales will eventually decrease severly because
the work originally put in by affiliates is no longer there.
Maybe a few legit "whales" will remain and not bother about the problem,
I doubt it though.
The legit affiliates, no matter how many signups they push, will simply get fed
up with it and leave the industry...
The malware-scammers will leave the industry because they no longer have
anyone elses work to steal...
The industry crumbles.
You want to be able to work like an affiliate in the future? Don't contribute
to shit that fucks with that workmodel.
