You have to look at the many parts an actor can perform. Shit, I think Jim Carrey should have won the award for "Truman" cuz it was SUCH a departure from his regular stick that it showed he could actually do a 'serious' movie! The same holds true for Denzel...he can actually play a 'bad ass mo fo' and do a good job.
(THOUGH, JUST MAYBE, Samuel L Jackson could have gotten away with doing a better job...IMHO)

thats why i say denzel can shove it.. try freaking wil smith for Ali.. if thats your take on things. it's no good saying he deserves it for all the stuff he's done in the past.. HELLO it's based on his performance in the movie..
if wil had have got it i would have understood.. It just ruins the whole point of the awards to say that it's for the "body of his work" rather than his performance.. which is the genreal consensus...
