Slavery may have occurred a long time ago. However, Institutional RACISM is very much alive in our world!! Particularly in the USA. Please keep in mind that any time the US Goverment makes monetary reparations to a specific group, the money is derived from taxes paid by US Citizens. Including members of said group. Just something to think about.
As a Black US citizen I think the money would be of more benefit if it is used to bring down the barriers that still exist today. I'd rather have equal access and opportunity today than to be paid off for shit that happened years ago and then be expected to shut the fuck up after i get my check. Just my
