These days, it's just part of the job. When I was in the service, I had to get injected with all sorts of stuff on a regular basis. Every time I went overseas, I had to get injected with every vaccination under the sun. Yet, I had to do that so that I could keep doing my job should I get exposed to something that my body wasn't used to fighting, like anthrax. Of course, this didn't increase my performance in my job, but it was still one of those things that I HAD to do. I HAD to get injected with all the junk they put in front of me.
