This is our first year doing it, and it's not much more cost than buying a fresh cut tree(or even heading to the hills to cut your own)
I guess it can only be in the house for about a week and a half or it starts to come out of hibernation.
When my Grandma died a few years ago the mortuary gave us a little pine that was about a foot tall. That baby is about 9' tall now and every time I look at it I think of her

Call me sentimental
I am hoping to achieve the same kind of affect with this tree, especially for the little ones

(I'd be a bah humbug guy if it weren't for them anyway)
Might even go so far as to pour a concrete curb around it and have the girls make some impressions with their hands or feet and stamp the year and whatever.. Who knows, at least something to mark it.
Although, I will miss standing the cut tree up and torching it. Can be a good show..
