It is not a virus. They find people that look like they are trustworthy and reputable and make them the offer. Usually it is corporate executives and such but anyone can be eligible if they are essentially decent human beings.
They are after help, pure and simple. The economic and political climate in Nigeria is unstable and they desperately need to get money overseas to protect it until things calm down. Having a Westerner on board opens a lot of doors. That is why they need you.
