Hi,

This rumor is absolutely most likely not true. CVV2 is effective for initial scrubbing and we offer it to our merchants. Many require the field, but most just use it as an optional field on the payment forms. We do not store the # as required by the card associations so obviously it is not passed for recurring transactions, nor does it need to be. Some carders are actually posting card #s with CVV2 in the bulleten boards. Fortunately, part of our scrubbing actually scans the board for card #s and adds them to our risk management system.
I;'m not sure how the other processors utilize CVV2 but I'm sure most at least offer it as an option.
