Reasons TGP won't disappear:
1. There are too many TGP sites that already make a shitload of money with their heaps of traffic, and unless they all cooperate at once to end TGP, nothing will change.
2. Link sites would also have to jump on the bandwagon.
3. It's the easiest way for newbies to get traffic without buying it and without waiting for SE rankings. So where there are new adult webmasters there will be gallery creation/submission and new TGP sites.
I'd be thrilled if TGP was gone just as much as you would be. I know where you are coming from, but I just don't see it happening, TGP2 is a step closer but that isn't going anywhere fast.
