Without knowing how old you are, or what size you are, I would have to suggest a dirt bike, so you can learn to handle them without having to deal with cars and trucks. I had several years of dirt riding experience before I hit the streets.
When it comes to street bikes, I have to give my love to Harley-Davidson (big surprise there, I am sure).
Harleys may not be as fast as some of the rice grinders out there, but they keep on going.
I use the analogy of H-D vs rice with the difference between a Ronson lighter and a Bic lighter. The Ronson you will change flints, add fluid and they last forever. The Bic you use up and throw away.
Another thing. Take a road trip from LA to Daytona Beach on a rice grinder. Then ride from Daytona to LA on a Harley.
I can guarantee which trip will be the most fun.
