I joined the military as I come from a rather long line of military and wanted to make them proud...thank you very much. In addition I loved virtually every minute of it...even the misery of it.

Reality check: A woman wants to feel wanted and loved, not proud of her husband all the fucking time. If she's proud of you, (which, if she married you, she probaby is already proud of yu and you don't need to keep forcing that desired feeling down her throat), then perhaps you might try being proud of HER.
It's a 2 way street. And let Me tell you, I've learned it the hard way.
