The character of Jameson follows the tradition laid down by John Jameson in the 18th century and is now determined by an experienced whiskey blender. He blends together a variety of whiskey types which have been matured in a variety of wood types These are vatted and allowed to marry. Before being called forward for bottling, water is added to reduce the alcoholic strength of the whiskey to its bottling strength, the final stage in a long journey to tasting.
