Go to the control panel and do the remove program choice... when you tell it to remove it will give a choice of rebuilding IE usually in the popup... pick that and let it redo itself (have it offline of course and closed)
Sometimes you have to go get the new updates all over again but its a sure way of repairing those problems.
And always check the drop down box to see if the jpg format is in the save popup. Sometimes IE will decide to change its default save as format. No clue why but setting it to jpg a few times will fix it too.
