Within a few seconds the pitcher was ready again.
However the pros take too long.
Notice when the batter doesn't get a hit he does the following:
- walks 10 feet from the plate.
- spits twice.
- fiddles with his hat.
- tapes his shoes a few times.
- spits again & scratches his crotch.
- returns to the plate & adjusts his little batter glove.
- swings the bat over the plate 11 times.
Finally he is ready to get to business, when the pitcher turns around to scare a guy leading off & the batter goes through the insane ritual again.
Why do they do that shit?
Whenever I see/play baseball in real life, no one does that crap after each pitch.
It really wastes a ton of time.
Baseball can be fun, but I hate seeing the game delayed after each pitch.
Is there any reason a batter needs to move like that?

partly because they are nervous , partly because they wanna psyche the pitcher out - get him out of his routine, and partly cuz they just wanna get there head together and get ready to whack the shit out of the ball that is about to be hurled at them at over 90 mph.....
