Serious hosting companies pay the same attention to virtual accounts like they do to dedicated ones. This is A RULE and the host owners here can verify me.
FACTS:
1. Most of webmasters start from v.accounts and later on some of them jump to d.server/s
2. The ones that are very satisfied with their hosting company and have a dedicated server they won't move to another one even in some cases the cost is half or less. You don't start a hosting company and you try to get big clients. If you do you'll fail most of the times. Reputation is everything and is earned VERY HARD and takes time.

V customers are very important in the hosting business model. You need a good mix of Dedicated and Virtual customers to be profitable.
