How do you handle people lying to your spouse?

Ok no names mentioned here but here's the situation.

Last year I got myself in a corner because I was helping so many people out for free it put my business in the minus bad.

This year when I came back in it was with the strict requirement from my wife that I was not to teach anybody how to do computer things outside maybe post an answer in a message forum.

Tonight I had a deadline to meet so I locked myself in another room where nobody could reach me and didn't exit the room till the deadline was met. During this time my wife was answering my ICQ's.

This one guy who was very freindly yesterday after I helped him out tells my wife I am going to teach him HTML.

Well thats the one thing my wife didn't want to hear. Those words are divorce court words. This guy carried on and on to her about me or her teaching him html. We both offered him a book from amazon.com ... without even a refferal code.

We even stated if we were to teach him html it would be $65.00 an hour so that I couldn't lose business while I taught him. After this he keeps on her about a tgp design. She stated we couldn't fit him into our schedule till next week. He ends up making a payment so she felt obligated to accept the job.

How would you guys that are married handle this?
