The primitive life
The water main for my neighbourhood broke today. It only took about 2 hours before we started feeling like we were living in a third-world country... We couldn't wash dishes, brush our teeth or even wash our hands (we eventually went to town and got 4 gallons of water, so we can do the last two now). It really makes me feel for people who have had to endure this for days on end... like after the hurricane hit Florida last year, or the tsunami disaster. If a little thing like no water for a day can throw our lives into turmoil, I can't imagine what going without power and water at the same time would be like.
I've camped out, I've lived in places where water and electricity weren't available... but in those situations you usually have the equipment to deal with it. Maybe it's time to start buying new camping gear.
By an odd coincidence, we were looking at a tent today.
