who decides if the "target" was really intended for you? you got an email regarding something webmaster-ish sure, but that's just luck. they spammed that same shit to 13 year old betsy nobody who just wants to look at nsync pictures online.

most spam is blind spam as far as i'm concerned. if they spam everyone they'll be able to get the people they think would want their product and anyone else who might be interested but never showed or picked that as an interest on whatever site resold their email address to begin with.

email spam is bullshit and i refuse to work with anyone who sends it to me. i've never opted-in to get anything, whether it be hot donkey sex with underage chinese girls or the newest webmaster tools out there, i never told anyone to send me that shit, so it was unsolicited. plain and simple. if i had opted-in at one point to get product announcements or something else, then yes, i obviously expected to get updates or notices about that. other than that, it goes in the bitbucket with the rest of the thousands of spam messages i get a month.
