Im missing your point ? we should ban irrational things that kill a few people a year but its ok for "rational" people to kill countless people every day ???
So if you shot every black man you would have THOUSAND fewer deaths, if you shot every pit bull you would have a couple every year.. hmmmm sounds like we should shoot all black people. save lives..

God for such a smart guy you're really taking the ignorant approach...seriously.
An animal is an animal is an animal. No matter how much training you give it...now matter how much love you get it it will always revert to it's core being an animal. Even the sweetest dog I've ever owned has on occassion growled or snapped at me when I tried to take away something it shouldn't be chewing on or eating.
Or when a female had pups lash out when we the owners of many years tried to touch one.
No rational thinking process involved...just reverting to basic animal instiinct.
Now if a human does this...reverts to animal instinct what do we do? We put it down or lock it up.
But we can't just go around and locking up potential perpetrators...and no we're not going to do that with dogs either.
But any sensible person would, should realise that if you have children take into consideration what kind of animals he/she will be around.
Sure Pippy the Pomeranian might bite their nose, or nip their ankles and if that had been the type of dog in this case..the mother could have easily pulled it off of her 12 year old son...she wouldn't be burying him.
But when you start owning and breeding animals who are much stronger than you, you open yourself up to these dangers.
I don't care how much control you think you have over an animal...LOL
I have worked with animal handlers in Hollywood...and these guys raise tigers, mountain lions and lions from when they were cubs..but they still walk around with them on huge chains and baseball bats *to be used like a rolled newspaper* to swat them on the nose...seriously.
During one scene on a puma commercial the mountain lion did not follow the buzzer cues but instead ran toward myself and the director/director of photography where we were behind the camera.
There were three trainers involved...the one to protect us yelled run...and then he jumped in and smacked this thing right on the nose....it just stopped shook it's head and then went about it's business...they put it back in it's cage.
Animals can take a lot of punishment when enraged, or acting out..and they are much stronger than us...so with that in mind..I have a busy day...if you choose to have such potentially dangerous beasts around your children expect that the worst thing can happen.
