I'm gonna have to throw the props to Rasmus Lerdorf, Zeev Suraski, and Andi Gutmans for creating such a fine product. Just because I know they always wanted their names to show up on a porno-messageboard.
I've been coding in PHP since it was called PHP/FI. Back then it wasn't much of a language. Now days, if you want to do web development, it's the way to go. MySQL is also your friend.
