Directions for the train to Amsterdam Central

Courtesy of Eurotivity Hosting in Amsterdam:

Hey, since I have gotten a few people asking me how to get to Amsterdam Central station, I've made a quick easy page. Sorry for the blurry pic - I just wanted to pop a quick shot with my cheapo sony. Nonetheless here you go:

When you clear customs, go to the main hall at AMS. The entire airport empties into this one hall. Find a way to get Euros - either an exchange place or an ATM machine. If you have euro coins, you're in business. Jump to read about the ticket machine. Otherwise you may have to use the ticket desk all the way towards the left side if you are facing the exits. There is a surcharge to use the counter, but I don't know what it is. There is usually a line here.

If you decide to use the machine, you may need one that takes coins (half the machines take only cards) - punch in 1000 for the code for Amsterdam Centraal. Then dial down the left. You will be buying a one way second class ticket for Amsterdam Centraal. It will cost 3.40 euros. When it prints, pocket it. They may check you for it on the ride. Then head over to tracks 1 and 2, they are escalators coming out of the lobby of the airport. The Ams Central trains usually are on tracks 1 and 2, look for the signs and at your watch to figure out which one to get on.

The central train station will be about 15 mins on the train. You'll know it because it's a large indoor "hangar" type building. EVERYONE on the train will be able to help you. This is what the machine looks like:
