As for several others, something physical works for me. When I was younger it was rugby and cross-country running; later on I slowed down to gardening; and these days it's tai chi. Gardening worked best, because I could spend as long doing it as I needed and also enjoy the results of my work.
That said, I have had some seriously high-pressure jobs over the years and never come close to the symptoms that you described. You don't say what the source of your stress is, but I suspect you are going to have to tackle that rather than just trying to find ways to cope.
