I'm with the others on the IBM issue, there's no way someone can tell you it can only be networked with another IBM unless it is running some IBM proprietary OS. Most likely as the others said it has a token ring card in it, just yank it and install a 10/100 Ethernet card and you'll be set.

my wife is running 98SE on her PC and she is on cable. My IBM's o/s is Windows ME and I am on dial-up. The Compaq lappie is running XP.
We wld like to have all files shared on all computers and have them all running off the cable connection.
The IBM is running IBM proprietary OS.
We just bought Sygate Home Networking software half an hour ago.
