We use diskkeeper as well, does a good job, just decided to use one or the other, if you use diskkeeper then defrag with the windows tool you'll start freaking the fat or ntfs tables...one or the other. Scandisk should mark your bad sector, you can't really get rid of it, even if you fdisk it'll probably be found again, I'd get a replacement drive if it's only a few months old.
