Gay Pride:
On the Factor tonight there was a piece about Lesbians holding some kind of protest at a basket ball game. They all stood up in unison, held up there signs, and kissed one another. Their explanation was it was a pride thing and they wanted some kind of recgonition as being fans.
My thinking about gays is this: To me it is abnormal to be gay. It has been stated that approximately 10% of the population is gay. I personally doubt that it is high as 10%.
If a forest of a species of pine trees is green, but 10% are red, the red trees are abnormal trees. If all forests of that same species of pine trees has 10% red trees then it can be argued that it is normal for that species of pine tree to have 10% abnormal trees.
When the analogy is applied to gays, it can be argued that it is normal to have 10% of the population be abnormal.
The way I view it then; is how can someone take pride in being abnormal, even though it is normal to have a certain percentage of abnormal people in the population?
Instead of flaunting their abnormality, I would think they would fare better in society if they led quite lives.
I do not think that gays should be denied rights that the rest of the population has, but I do not think they should be provided any special rights or recgonition.
I will probably be bashed for being politically incorrect, or called homophobic by the gays on this board. Politically incorrect I will accept but I do not consider myself to be homophobic. I simply do not understand the gay pride thing, as I do not see that they have anything to be proud of.
Educate me in this subject.
