I'm still stuck in a day job as well, although I probably could have gotten the time off. Main reason is that I'm pregnant and travel to hot climates is unpleasant. Also these things are usually big piss ups and I'm not drinking (for obvious reasons). They are piddly reasons at best but they all added up to 'I just can't be bothered this year'.
